So today you are going to know about the difference between the SD card and the TF card, as they are totally different when it comes to technical stuff. But when it comes to looks both looks very identical and also can be used in the place of one another.

Both Micro SD card and TF Memory card are almost the same like both of them are having the same storage capacity like 8GB, 16GB, 34GB and so forth. So here in this article we have listed the difference between the SD and TF card properly so that you are able to clear the doubts between this two cards. There are many more things that you need to know between these two cards where you can store your personal data safely. Here first, you will get to know about the SD card and how it differs from the TF card and secondly you will know briefly about the TF card and it’s difference between the SD card. So let’s have a look at the difference between these two cards that is the SD card and the TF card.

SD Card And How It Differ From TF Card:

Secure Digital Card stands for the MicroSD Card and is basically a flash drive which can be removed. SD card are normally used into Android devices. It is designed and firstly invented by the company such as Panasonic, US Sandisk, And Toshiba is also included in the inventory list of Micro SD Card. TF card is one of the latest invention made by the company like Motorola and SanDisk.

But in recent time it is reported that it has been started using even in handheld GPS Devices. When a comparison is made with the size of the SD Cards, the MicroSD Card size turns out to be quite smaller than the TF card. Now let us point out some more differences between MicroSD Card and TF Card.

Micro SD card shares almost the same functions with that of TransFlash and is shortly termed as TF. It gives you the access to run in its compatible devices. Micro SD card or TF comes with a several capacities of storage. Micro SD Card comes with a SDIO support mode. And this simply means that they are capable of performing non-memory jobs like GPS or Bluetooth and others. On the other side TF or TransFlash is not capable of doing non-memory things.

Have you noticed that there is a switch available on the security segment in SD Card. But you will not find any facility such as security segment in the TF. The size of the SD Card is comparatively larger than the MicroSD card in its size. Speaking of the storage capacity of the Micro SD card TF Card shares almost the same amount. It is found that SD card has the support limit of up to 32GB and 64GB in TF Card.

Micro SD card is an upgraded memory that is based on Semiconductor flash memory device. It has one of the most important features and that is protection switch that TF Card lacks. On the other side, the interesting thing about the TF card is that it gives you the access to transfer into SD Card by using Card Sleeve.

TF Memory Card And Its Differences From Micro SD Card:

TF card or Trans Flash card is first developed by SanDisk in the year 2004 and it was the smallest memory card in the world. It is designed and developed for mobile phones and Motorola company is the first mobile manufacturing company that accumulates this technology from SanDisk on their handsets. In the next year 2005 this technology has been adapted SD technology and named it to micro SD. With some advancement in its technology and with same size and dimension both TF card and SD card is compatible with one another. It is normally a portable storage device that can you can use on your tablets, digital camera, PDS, electronic keyboard, mobile phones and much more. You all might have used TF card and SD card in different gadgets and gets confused whether both are identical or different? Yes, there are some light differences between both the technology.

Both these cards are similar in many respects but there is some small contrast. I have said above that there are some technical differences between these two cards and it is TF card supportability. TF card not supports SDIO mode which is supported by micro SD card. As SD card supports SDIO so it can be used as non-memory storage in many electronic gadgets like Bluetooth, NFC (Near Field communication) and on GPS device. SDIO mode is the only technical difference which is not present in TF card.

TF card technology for security is not advance as that of SD card.  In SD card they added a security switch which not present in TF Memory card. Apart from its security issue TF card also differs from micro SD card in its size. TF card also comes with a size of 15 mm x 11 mm x 1mm whereas SD card is 24 mm x 32mm x 2.1 mm. Final difference is the availability and the price of both these cards. TF card is costlier than that of SD card and as maximum mobile phones are now adopted with SD card technology so availability of TF card is less than that of micro SD card.

Final Words

So these are the difference between the SD card and the TF card. According to us SD card is better than the TF card (TransFlash card) as with the SD card you can even do all those non memory work like GPS and much more. Here in our article you have known the detailed information about both the TF and SD card. But nowadays as lots of people are moving to cloud storage and you are getting good space memory card inbuilt in phone, in the near future all may move to the cloud storage instead of TF or SD card.
